Why Don't We Talk About Death?

Updated: Aug 25, 2022

This video poses an important question that people might not think about often - why don't we talk about death?

In countries across the world, death is discussed often and revered as a sacred part of life. However, it's often seen as a "taboo" topic of conversation in America. People fear the idea of death, so they'd rather avoid it than normalize this intrinsic part of the human experience.

In many cases, the concept of death isn't discussed until someone experiences a death in his or her own life. But, it doesn't have to be that way.

One way to start the discussion is by educating yourself on death and dying, incorporating perspectives and ideas from different cultures.

The video suggests reading this book: "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying"

Here is a list of 50 books discussing death, including novels, plays, science books, memoirs, religious texts, and even children's books.

It's never too late to start learning about death and all that it entails. After all, it's one of the only guarantees in life- we may as well talk about it.
