What to Know about the COVID-19 Booster Shot
When will be the public be able to start getting their booster shots?
"If FDA authorizes and ACIP recommends it, the goal is for people to start receiving a COVID-19 booster shot this fall." -CDC
The booster shots will be available in the for people to receive 8 months after their second dose of the shot.
Since many older, high-risk individuals were the first to be vaccinated, they will also likely be the first groups to receive the booster shot.
Which shots will require the booster shot for best protection against COVID-19 as of now?
Once the shot is approved, people who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines will be able to get the booster. There is currently not enough data to support a booster shot for those who received the Johnson & Johnson single dose shot.
That data should be arriving in the next few months.
