COVID-19 Vaccine and Hospice Care Facilities

While many hospice and palliative care facilities around the country are ready for their frontline healthcare workers and patients to receive vaccinations, they also fear financial issues and potential side effects.


“Being at the front of the line for vaccinations is essential to limiting spread of COVID-19 while protecting the frontline health care workforce as well as the patients and families that hospices serve in their community,” said Hannah Yang Moore, chief advocacy officer at the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).


While the first round of vaccines will be covered by the government, facilities fear there might be increased fees for the storage and shipment of the second round, depleting necessary funds.
